Every Indian is always excited to hear which players will feature in the Indian squad, no matter the series. But with the T20 World Cup coming around, things didn't go as expected. While captain Rohit Sharma said that minimum changes would be made to the Asia Cup squad, there were some unexpected changes, that were beyond his control.

Let's take a quick look into this bumpy journey.

Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh and Bhuvneshwar Kumar were reported to the National Cricket Academy for conditioning-related work during the home series against Australia and South Africa.

The 15-member India squad for the T20 World Cup started on October 16 had excluded Mohammed Shami. The senior fast bowler was kept on a stand-by despite India's death-overs travails at the recent Asia Cup.

What about Boom Boom?

Jasprit Bumrah was diagnosed with back spasms, After four weeks of rehab, he was deemed fit and was included in India's T20I squad for the home series against Australia and South Africa and the 15-member squad for the T20 World Cup. He missed the first game against Australia, but returned for the next two, before missing the opening match against South Africa.

After the toss said Bumrah had experienced "back pain" during India's practice session on the pre-match day. A day later, Bumrah was rushed to Bengaluru for fresh scans and was subsequently ruled out of the rest of the series, and ultimately the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Jasprit Bumrah

India was dealt a huge blow ahead of the T20 World Cup with Bumrah ruled out due to a back injury. They have now opted for the experience of Shami for the marquee event set to get underway this weekend.

With no death-over specialist in the squad, suddenly this side looked like it was missing a spark. With the world cup on the horizon, someone had to pick up the mantle and prove their worth in the squad.

Deepak Chahar, who was initially named in the reserves, too did not make the flight to Australia because of a back injury. India has named two other players Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur in the reserves with Shreyas Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi. The three players have already flown to Australia and have linked up with the squad.

Besides Bumrah and Chahar, India will also be playing without Ravindra Jadeja who missed out due to a knee injury he sustained during the 2022 Asia Cup in the UAE.

The Final T20 World Cup 2022 Squad

Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (Vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Rishabh Pant, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Deepak Hooda, Mohammed Shami.

Given Mohammed Shami's fantastic performance in the warm-up match with Australia, it won't be a surprise to see him make his way into the playing 11. Young Arshdeep Singh has looked promising but now is the time to go all guns blazing and prove why he is in the squad. India seems to have made a fantastic find with Suryakumar Yadav, who can take the match away from any opposition.

We here at StanceBeam cannot wait for the T20 World Cup. We would like to extend our best wishes to all the teams and hope for an entertaining tournament!
